The Amazingly Boring Race

Yes, this “Family Edition” of The Amazing Race both sucks and blows. But I’ve been watching each week out of commitment to the previouls wonderful installments. And the sooner this one’s over, the sooner the producers can move onto the next season and hopefully return to form. Some ramblings while watching the finale:

Soon I won’t have to listen to Weavers, those hypocrical, religious zealouts, pray every five minutes over all things mundane. If they end up winning I think I’ll be sick. I wish there was a reunion episode like Survivor, so the Weavers could address many of the remarks they’ve made during the race — both to defend their rudeness and their stupidity. How do you say “where is” to talk to the locals (this, tonight, while in Toronto!)?

Some good CanCon tonight, though. But what the hell was that other “popular” Canadian sport with the lumberjacks? At least curling made sense. I love how the Linz family will move to Canada to take up the sport. It was fun seeing the teams running around familiar sights in Montreal and Toronto.

With all three families in Olympic Stadium, it was more packed than an Expos game from days gone by. Why did those stupid Weavers give up on the task for a while? And why didn’t the son just go looking for himself?

The Bata Shoe Museum? Wow, way to showcase what Toronto has to offer. That was sure on par with going up the CN Tower.

I think it’s clear that terrorists are using jet boats to cross the border.

The producers are definitely cruel to the Weavers. First they have a couple of racetrack-related activities, and their dad was killed on a racetrack. Now the final task is a jigsaw puzzle of North and South America! If we have to wait for this family to use their geography skills, the episode will last into the new year.

The Linz and Bransen family race at the jigsaw … this is going to be ever so close!! Wow, what an exciting finish. Congrats Linz family!

By far the best racers, most entertaining, and had the most fun. Definitely deserving winners. And way to hit on the Bransen chicks on the finish mat.

Weavers not even close at the end. I guess their god wasn’t listening to their prayers, or forgot to watch the Amazing Race this week. Or maybe too busy deciding which professional athletes are going to win the championship or similarly with musicians and Grammys.

Oooh, clips from the next season. I don’ think they’ve resorted to this at the end of a finale before. Practically begging for our forgiveness. I love how they emphasive all the good stuff for the next season: “five continents, 60000 miles, 11 teams of … 2! As in no families, which totally backfired on us. Please forgive us.”

I’ll be tuning in come February — you better not disappoint me again, Phil & company.
