Except for a few small details, everything seemed to go A-OK for Brad & Lisa’s wedding on Saturday. The reception itself started very close to on-schedule, and at least the ushering helped pass the time instead of sitting around in the pews. There’s a good view of the whole thing when you’re standing up front, particularly when one of the bridesmaid’s little kid is sprawled face-first on the stairs leading up to the stage (not the result of falling, just some issues with the stairs while clinging tenaciously to his mother’s dress). The talky part was short, and it wasn’t *too* hot standing up there, so that’s a success in my books.
The weather turned out perfectly for the picture-taking afterwards, and we did them in a pretty nice location. As with many other events from the summer, there will be pictures posted when I am less lazy.
Positive comments for the reception, as well. That was somewhat late, as the pictures went a little long and the horse & carriage ride for Brad & Lisa (and her son, Nick … *sigh*, that’s a whole other issue, that boy has got to learn to let go once in a while) to where the reception was not exactly a quick ride. The food was conservative, but tasty (good dessert, whatever that stuff was), the MC was funny, the speeches were short and to the point, and the cake was delicious. Should have saved some for the road. And having a seat at the head table was a nice experience, getting to look down upon the simple folk who were served their food only after us.
Just dawned on me that I now have a sister-in-law. Neat.
