I Want to Have Fun, Too

There aren’t many scenarios I can envision where I’m at home with “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” blaring from my computer speakers. Perhaps there’s only one such scenario, which would be tonight while listening to an unofficial Gilmore Girls soundtrack I came across and downloaded.

I knew the collection would be eclectic, just from memories of hearing the Bangles, Captain and Tennille, The Smiths, and at least a couple of tunes by The Shins off the top of my head (and of course a brief mention of Rilo Kiley). But I guess if you’re not consciously keeping track of what they play on the show, it’s surprising to realize they have a mixture of such artists as Elvis Costello, XTC, Beck, PJ Harvey, Elastica, The Ramones, John Lennon, Wilco, Rancid, Yoko Ono, Frank Sinatra, The Cure, Outkast, Black Reel Motrocycle Club, and much more!
