Well, at least I didn’t have to shovel it.
I was in London this weekend when the big snowstorm hit, which dumped a good 20+ cm of snow from Friday night to Saturday. Good thing we had the snow blower! Actually, I really didn’t have to deal with the worst of things, as I was nicely sequestered inside for most of that time, taking advantage of the fireplace.
On Friday night I watched Cold Mountain, which never really looked all that exciting but received pretty good reviews so I thought I’d check it out. I was pleasantly surprised, and didn’t even notice the 2.5 hr runtime, despite the fact that I started watching it fairly late using the convenience of The Movie Network on Demand. More on the movie another time. I spent most of Saturday working on my survival analysis assignment, reviewing notes and getting started on all the questions.
Billie and Ryan were originally going to come to London from Ottawa to pick up some things and visit, but the crappy weather killed those plans. Sven and Mandy ended up coming into town late on Saturday anyway, so I met up with them and Chris & Meghan at Laura’s place. We tried playing a classic movies edition of Scene It that Laura bought, but we suck. Laura and Sven less so, since they were able to actually answer a few of the questions, but most of them just left us shrugging. The oldies just aren’t my forte.
We switched over to something a little more relevant to our lives: Trivial Pursuit, 90’s Edition. It was pretty close for a while, until Meghan got bored and we switched to “Billie Rules”, where a pie piece can be earned on every space of the board. It sure speeds things up, and a short while later Sven and I emerged victorious. The two of us and Laura finished off the night with a quick game of Mario Party 6, and my winning streak now stands at a mighty 2 games.
I came back to Kitchener-Waterloo on Sunday evening, but of course my bus was just late enough that I missed catching the city bus I wanted by 5 minutes. It was a 40 minute wait until the next one, so I got on another route and had to walk 15 minutes in the freezing cold from where it dropped me off to my place. At least near the stop there was a Subway that was open for another five minutes, so I was able to avoid having to make dinner. But the closer I get to finishing my Master’s … then getting a job … then getting a car … yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
