So, it’s Tuesday and I want to get a good deal on the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD being released that day. After my blood donation I check out the Zellers in the same plaza, but they evidently don’t “get” the whole new release compulsion. I didn’t spot the DVD on the shelves, and overheard some lady asking about the Seinfeld sets also coming out that day. The Zellers employee she was talking too said they were still packed up and would be on the floor later on (note: she did offer to go searching for the DVDs the lady wanted). She also mentioned that it was usually best to check the day after for new releases. Geez.
Later on I took a trip over to the HMV just outside of campus. They had plenty out for display, but priced at $25.99. Sure, it was only a couple of dollars more than what Future Shop was selling it for, but when it comes to DVD prices, a couple of dollars is a relatively big difference. On principle, I didn’t want to support higher prices. Not that Future Shop is a saint here; the $23.99 price was for that day only.
I could have made the trek to the north end of the city to the closest Future Shop, but it really is somewhat of a pain. So, I thought I’d be efficient about things and just order from their web site. Shipping is free, so I lose nothing there, and heck, I even save the price of a bus ticket ($1.45). So, I put in my order that night.
It arrived Friday by Purolator. Too bad I wasn’t home (or anyone else, for that matter), and so all I got was a delivery notice of where to pick up my package. The location: the Purolator office in north Waterloo, in basically the same plaza as Future Shop.
*sigh*
The moral: get a job and Costco membership, where it’s probably way cheaper.
