Kyle found this great little game yesterday: given the shape of a US state, place it correctly on the map. It measures the average distance you are off by, and % of correct placements. The first time I did it, the mid-western states really screwed me up, particuarly with no context to help the placement. [...] Fuck. I’ve gotta stop watching Raptors games. Their inconsistency drives me crazy and I get so frustrated watching them blow it like this afternoon. The worst part is that I don’t understand why I get so worked up about it, or think that there’s any meaning to stuff like this (or any [...] So, it’s Tuesday and I want to get a good deal on the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD being released that day. After my blood donation I check out the Zellers in the same plaza, but they evidently don’t “get” the whole new release compulsion. I didn’t spot the DVD [...] On Thursday night I went to see Kevin Smith’s Q&A at Roy Thompson Hall with Sven, Mandy, and Sheena. The event was put together by Ryerson’s student union, supported by a bunch of other schools. Sheena got the tickets at her school, Laurier, and they included (big yellow) bus transportation to Toronto. [...] After discovering the wonders of DVD Shrink, thanks to Sven, I had to pass along the knowledge to Ryan. When he first got his DVD burner in the summer, I found some convoluted instructions involving multiple applications in order to copy a disc … I wasn’t up to speed on the process myself, and [...] I met up with Dean late on Friday morning and we went to the National Arts Centre for a cool event: a CBC radio interview with Rick Mercer. I forget the name of the show and host (and am apparently too lazy to check), but any listener of the station probably knows who I’m [...] I got into Ottawa early on last Thursday. I killed some time at the bus station, as I didn’t want to annoy people at home so early in the morning especially on a work day, then headed over to Dean’s. He had a shift later for his new job at Home Hardware, but [...] The DC library is nice and quiet on a Friday evening. I guess all the annoying people have “better” things to do. It’s also nicely deserted here on the 6th floor of MC. I could get used to this … well, most likely not, but it’s still somewhat novel being here this late [...] I got back yesterday morning from a four-day trip to Ottawa. I traveled there overnight Wednesday and then took the 12:30 am bus out of there Sunday night/Monday morning. But before I get into that, the previous week was full of fun stuff. On the Wednesday I made a trip to London where Patti [...] I’ve been meaning for months to give some space to a great band called Rilo Kiley (also see here). Alright, here’s the deal: I was going through a phase of downloading “unofficial” soundtracks a while back, and someone had put together the “Ultimate Buffy the Vampire Slayer” collection.
