Preparing to Head Out

I should be getting my school stuff in order and packing for heading to London tomorrow, but this afternoon/evening has just been really blah. I fell asleep while reading earlier and that turned into a two hour nap. I felt like crap when I got up (that’s what I get for sleeping so long) and had no motivation to do anything productive. I got up for a 7 pm supper, then watched three hours worth of Simpsons commentaries. What an exciting Friday night. A least Heather seems to be doing homework so I’m not the only one not taking advantage of a nice night.

I’m trying to make an effort at catching up with some people. I had lunch with Sarah T last Friday and it was awesome to see her after what seems like way too long. She’s settling into working life and Leo is getting adjusted to going back to school. Their commuting schedule really sucks. I continued the RIM rounds with Greg at Mel’s yesterday. Sounds like he’s really enjoying it back there. Afterwards, I cut through the RIM parking lot on my way to campus, and came upon Patrick, Kelli and Liz having lunch outside so I stopped and chatted for a few minutes. Kelli, Sarah B and I are trying to figure out a time to get together ourselves.

I went to Guelph last night and spent the night at Sven & Mandy’s. Sven and I played this new game he got, Donkey Kong Konga or something like that. Basically, you’ve got a pair of congas and as these songs play you have to match the beat using left, right or both drums and clapping. Surprisingly very fun! The three of us watched Survivor and played more GameCube, but we weren’t able to fit in some mini-golf before Survivor as we thought we might do. Oh, and we also went over some plans for their annual Halloween party … this year’s theme will be lesser-known super heroes!

I was just talking to Patti, and I think our schedules are finally going to work out while I’m in London. I missed her in Toronto after she had just moved back home, and we couldn’t get anything to work out when I was at my parents’ last time. But the current plan is for her to kidnap me on Sunday night, so hopefully that pans out.

So, London this weekend. London again for at least part of next weekend as my dad and I take Brad to the Raptors/76ers exhibition game at the John. Can’t remember if I have anything specifically planned for the following weekend, but it will include studying for my midterm. After that is Halloween Party and Movie Day the 13th (hey, how appropriate!). And then if everything works out, I’m going to Ottawa for the first weekend in November. Technically, what I’ll do is travel there overnight on Wednesday, skipping Stat 831 on Thursday and with no classes on the Friday, that leaves the rest of the weekend. I can probably travel overnight on the Sunday since I don’t have to be on campus until 12:30 on the Monday.

I’m anxious to check out Billie & Ryan’s new place, it sounds great. And having a guest room is perfect for such trips. I miss hanging out with her and Dean and Kyle, but unfortunately Kyle will have already moved to Sudbury by then. Speaking of said guest room, it’s mine if I need to crash somewhere while looking for a place to live in the event that I get a job in Ottawa. Apparently Billie and Dean think I should move there. Over the past couple of years and regular visits, that has certainly become a legitimate option. But I was really impressed with my stay in Toronto at the end of the summer, and I think I actually like it better there. I guess time will tell where I end up.
