I spent the day in Toronto, attending a Jays/Yankees game with my dad. After getting creamed in the first three games of the series, the Jays pulled one out in an exciting win. The game was delayed a little over an hour due to a power outage. Traffic getting off the Gardiner was crazy, due to the crush of Yankees fans making their way to the Dome and the lack of functioning streetlights in the area. It looked like we would be late, even though we gave ourselves a generous buffer of time, but the outage meant there were crowds outside the gates. Just after it was announced that we might be waiting a couple of hours, power was restored and we were soon let into the stadium.
I drove part of the way to Toronto, and I realized that I’ve never driven that much on the 401. Lacking a car of my own, the only long distance trips I’ve done the driving for are between London and Waterloo. I switched with my dad in Mississauga, since he knew the best route to get to the game, but now that I know Toronto better and actually paid attention to the way we were going, I should get behind the wheel next time and do some driving in the city.
Anyway, I’m back in London now. I got Dad & Kim to check out an episode of Arrested Development, and I think they really liked it. I feel an obligation to get people to catch this brilliant show.
I’m now watching Working Girl on Bravo. Holy shit, the big scary 80s hair is unbelievable. The movie is actually pretty good so far, but man oh man is it ever dated. Joan Cusack looks like Boy George.
