Alias News

While watching the third season of Alias this past year, it cemented a place at the top of my must-watch list. As a testament to how entertaining it really is, I didn’t even notice that it was a relatively disappointing season. This hit home when I bought the first season on DVD and watched it straight through, catching up on earlier episodes that I had missed. Episode after episode (while cursing the too-effective cliffhangers), I was continually impressed. Plot details didn’t always make sense, in terms of the crazy assignments and technology, but it sure makes for escapist fun and at least they handle things consistently so you know what to expect from the Alias-universe. But there was definitely something lacking in season three (can you say Buffy, season six?).

Based on this article, those issues should be fixed in season four! I was initially disappointed when I heard that ABC was rolling out the next season in January (as part of the big networks’ new fascination with year-round programming). But the extra time may help out, as will the addition of some writers from the Angel crew.

On the heels of that news, congrats go to Jennifer Garner on her best actress in a drama Emmy nomination for playing the lead character on the show, and to Victor Garber for his supporting role as her dad (who’s bad side you don’t want to get on) .
